For anyone from the US traveling to China, the first thing you need to do when attempting to acquire a Visa is to visit www.china-embassy.org/visa/english/lq.htm then scroll down and find your state on the map. Clicking on this will bring you to the appropriate site for your region. Find the English version for your site & look for “Visa and Passport.” At this point you can read about different types of visa’s available, items required for visa application, and you can also download a Visa Application Form. For other countries, simply do a search of “china embassy in (your country)” and this should bring up the site you need. Please note: in America after the advent of the September 11th disaster it is no longer possible to apply for your visa by mail. It must be applied for at the embassy in person or be acquired through a travel agency or expediter service. Please allow extra time for this if you do not live in a city that hosts an embassy for China. If done in person, it generally takes about a week for a visa to be approved. |

PLEASE NOTE!!!! This is meant to be a guideline only and each traveler should go to the official embassy website for their region to be sure they have the most correct and updated information, especially regarding the current price of the visa. |

For people coming for travel purposes on an “L” Tourist visa this is probably all you will need to have. For people coming to teach or study for a longer period of time using an “X” or “Z” visa there may be other documents that you will need to provide, including such forms as the Health Certificate, Employment Certificate, Foreign Expert Certificate, Visa Notice, etc… The Health Certificate can also be downloaded from the embassy website. The other forms need to be acquired by the school for whom you will be teaching, or at which you will be studying. In these cases I would recommend that you contact us before you apply for your visa so that we may explain the whole procedure to you and assist you in acquiring such documents as are needed.. Some items on the Visa Application Form are somewhat ambiguous or unclear and it is recommended that whenever preparing to fill out the Visa Application Form please contact us and we can clear up any confusion you may have and take you step by step through filling out the form as we have personal experience with applying for many different kinds of visas and can give you advice on the best way to fill out the form so as to make your visa application process run smoothly and without error which may cause delays in receiving your approved visa. If you have any further questions on this process, please contact us and we would be happy to explain to you in detail how to acquire a visa for your particular situation. |
